Michigan Regulator Cracks Down with 10 Cease-and-Desist Letters

By mailing ten cease-and-desist letters to offshore operators, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has stepped up its efforts to combat unlawful gambling. These businesses, which are controlled by Apex Dynamics of Belize, are said to have given Michigan residents illegal access to casino-style games.

Aladdin’s Gold Casino, All Star Slots, Buzz Luck, Club World Casinos, CryptoReels, High Noon, Lucky Red Casino, Manhattan Slots Casino, ReelSpin Casino, and Slotter Casino were among the well-known platforms to which the letters were sent.

Strict Action Against Unlicensed Operators

The MGCB remains firm in its stance against unauthorized operators. In a statement, the regulator said, “The cease-and-desist letters sent serve as a clear warning to Apex Dynamics Ltd. and other entities operating illegally: the MGCB will not tolerate violations of state gaming regulations.”

Under Michigan law, operators must obtain a license before offering gambling services. Running an unlicensed gambling platform in the state is considered a felony. The state’s penal code specifically prohibits gambling activities where payments are made based on uncertain outcomes.

According to the code, it is illegal to accept money with the “understanding it will be paid based on a game of chance.”

Following investigations, MGCB determined these operators violated the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

Emphasizing the board’s commitment, MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said, “The Gaming Control Board’s relentless dedication to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry drives our efforts.”He further added,“We will continue to take strong action to shut down illegal operations that undermine trust in Michigan’s legal gaming system.”

Michigan remains one of the states with a regulated online gaming market. Licensed operators contribute tax revenue while ensuring player protection. The MGCB’s actions reinforce its dedication to creating a fair and safe gaming environment.

While legal platforms operate under strict supervision, offshore sites often lack transparency and security. The board’s latest enforcement serves as a reminder to operators and consumers alike to engage only with licensed platforms.
