Ed Domingo will take over as Crown Melbourne’s next CEO, according to Crown Resorts Ltd. The appointment is scheduled for late April, subject to regulatory approval. Domingo has more than 20 years of expertise in the gaming and hotel industries and was previously an executive at MGM Resorts International.
Mike Volkert, who has been in charge of Crown Melbourne for two and a half years, will be replaced by him. The business announced that Volkert will be leaving in April to explore a position outside of Crown.
“We thank Mike for his leadership steering Crown Melbourne through a period of significant transformation,” Crown Resorts stated in its announcement.
A Strong Background in Casino Leadership
Domingo most recently served as president and chief operating officer at Empire City Casino in New York. Before that, he was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, gaining extensive experience in integrated resort management.
Crown Resorts CEO David Tsai expressed confidence in Domingo’s leadership: “Ed has a proven track record in leading integrated resorts.”
He also emphasized that Domingo’s experience across multiple gaming jurisdictions will help Crown Melbourne navigate its next phase of growth and success.
In recent years, Crown Melbourne has come under regulatory investigation. However, following operational adjustments and compliance initiatives, Victorian regulators let Crown Resorts to keep its casino license in March 2023. As the business works to improve its governance and standing in the market, Domingo’s appointment comes at a critical moment.
Crown Melbourne is poised to embark on a new age with a focus on growth, compliance, and operational excellence thanks to Domingo’s experience and leadership.
