Michigan Cracks Down on Offshore Gambling with Cease-and-Desist Orders

Five internet operators have received cease-and-desist letters from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), which is stepping up its efforts to combat illegal gambling. BetWhale Casino, Black Lotus Casino, Coins Game Casino, Love2play Casino, and Orion Stars 777 Players are among the businesses that are being targeted.

Without the required licenses, these platforms provide a range of casino games, including poker, blackjack, slots, Keno, bingo, and sports betting. According to Michigan law, operators cannot provide gambling services unless they have received state approval. A crime is committed when this rule is broken.

The MGCB warned, “The MGCB has given these operators 14 days from the date of receipt of the cease-and-desist letters to halt their illegal activities. If they do not comply, the MGCB will work closely with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to pursue further legal action.”

Regulator Warns of Consumer Risks

Illegal gambling platforms pose significant risks, from unreliable withdrawal options to the absence of essential consumer protections. MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams emphasized, “These illegal platforms not only violate Michigan’s gaming regulations but also put consumers at risk by offering unreliable withdrawal options and lacking essential consumer protections.”

He added, “Our top priority is safeguarding Michigan residents by ensuring that all online gaming activities are conducted legally and safely. These operators must stop their activities or face additional legal consequences.”
