Maryland Casino Revenue Drops 2.6% in February, But FYTD Remains Positive

According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, state-wide casino income in February 2025 was $155.2 million, a 2.6% decrease over the same time in 2024. The six privately held casinos in the state—Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino & Hotel, Ocean Downs Casino, Hollywood Casino Perryville, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort—saw varying degrees of success.

The only casino to see year-over-year gain was MGM National Harbor, which saw a 0.1% increase in revenue to $66.9 million. Even though it made $57 million, Live! Casino & Hotel was still the second highest earner, down 3.9% from the year before.

Performance of Other Casinos

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore reported $14.1 million in revenue, reflecting a 5.8% decline, while Hollywood Casino Perryville recorded $7.1 million, down 3.5% year-over-year. Ocean Downs Casino earned $6.1 million in February, seeing a 3.9% dip.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort posted the lowest earnings, generating $3.9 million. It also recorded the steepest year-over-year decline at 10.5%.

Casinos contributed $65.2 million to state programs in February, a 3.8% decline from the prior year. Of this amount, $47.1 million was allocated to the state’s Education Trust Fund. Casino gaming revenue also supported local jurisdictions, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

Despite the February decline, the state’s fiscal year-to-date (FYTD) casino revenue totaled $1.3 billion, reflecting a 0.9% increase over the previous fiscal year. While monthly figures showed a dip, the overall upward trend suggests resilience in Maryland’s gaming industry.
