Wisconsin Tribes to Introduce Statewide Self-Exclusion Program in 2025

In Wisconsin, tribal gaming leaders are demonstrating their commitment to responsible gaming by endorsing a new statewide self-exclusion program. The initiative, which is scheduled to begin in March 2025, will give people an easy option to choose to voluntarily bar themselves from all Tribal casinos that participate throughout sovereign territory.

This program was created by the Tribal Council for Responsible Gaming in collaboration with idPair and the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling with the goal of improving player safety and community well-being.

Tribal Council for Responsible Gaming CEO Ivory Kelly emphasized the program’s importance, stating, “This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to the health of our people and communities.”

Expansion Plans and Leadership Support

The program intends to work with Tribal gaming commissioners to expand to additional states after the Wisconsin debut. An advisory board of important Tribal leaders from groups like Wondr Nation, the Indian Gaming Association, and the National Tribal Gaming Commissioners/Regulators has been formed to guarantee its success.

Board members include Anika Howard, Jamie Hummingbird, Oscar Schuyler, Ernie Stevens, and Tamara Van Schyndel. Stevens, Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association in Washington DC, highlighted the significance of this program, stating, “Tribal nations have long been at the forefront of promoting responsible gaming practices, demonstrating leadership through our actions.”

He further encouraged broader participation, adding, “This initiative not only underscores the commitment of Tribal nations to player protection but also sets a precedent for others to follow.”

The self-exclusion platform, powered by idPair, aligns with Tribal sovereignty while meeting local regulatory standards. By leveraging advanced technology, the program ensures a seamless process for individuals seeking to take a break or stop gambling entirely.

With strong leadership and a commitment to responsible gaming, this initiative represents a major step forward in protecting players while upholding Tribal gaming values.
