Light & Wonder Acquires Grover Gaming’s Charitable Gaming Assets for $850 Million

Grover Gaming’s philanthropic gaming assets will be acquired by Light & Wonder in an all-cash purchase worth $850 million, marking a significant expansion. By incorporating a rapidly expanding market into its portfolio, this action enhances Light & Wonder’s position in the regulated gaming industry.

With more than 10,000 leased machines operating in five U.S. states, Grover Charitable Gaming is a top supplier of electronic pull-tabs. The business has maintained steady financial success and built excellent industry contacts.

Through the acquisition, Light & Wonder expands its reach outside its conventional markets by gaining access to a new gaming vertical. The agreement is in line with Light & Wonder’s plan to use its current gaming experience to advance into regulated, high-growth industries.

Once the transaction is finalized in Q2 2025, employees from both companies will integrate into the new structure, ensuring a seamless transition.

Leadership’s Perspective on the Deal

Matt Wilson, President and CEO of Light & Wonder, highlighted the strategic significance of the acquisition: “Grover Gaming is a leading player in charitable gaming, a category that has experienced significant growth in recent years. This transaction complements our position as the leading cross-platform global games company by adding another compelling regulated adjacency to our profile. Importantly, there are exciting incremental revenue opportunities to be realized by leveraging Light & Wonder’s proven land-based gaming content to a new and loyal customer base. We look forward to continuing to partner with Grover Gaming’s customers, building on its strong dedication to customer service.”

I’m also grateful for our customers’ loyalty over the past two decades. We realize without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Light & Wonder is an ideal partner for us, given our similar company cultures and dedication to innovation and customer service. We are excited to see Charitable Gaming taken to a new level!”

With this acquisition, Light & Wonder secures a strong foothold in the growing charitable gaming industry, which has gained momentum in recent years. By integrating Grover’s successful pull-tab business with its own gaming expertise, Light & Wonder aims to drive further innovation and expansion in the sector.
