These agencies raised significant legal, social, and economic concerns about the potential introduction of casinos in the state.
During the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Tourism meeting, the discussion ended with applause from the audience, signaling relief among those opposed to the proposal. The rejection of the bill has brought a sense of closure to the ongoing debate over casino gambling in Hawaii.
While casino gambling will not be coming to Hawaii in the near future, the conversation about alternative forms of gaming or entertainment may continue.
