Kindred Reports Continued Drop in Revenue from High-Risk Gambling

Revenue from high-risk players has significantly decreased for Kindred Group, which reported a decline from 3.2% in Q3 to 2.7% in Q4 2024. Additionally, the proportion of patrons exhibiting better gambling behavior following interventions increased from 87.3% to 92.2% in the preceding quarter.

Increased regulations, more stringent internal procedures, and Kindred’s deliberate retreat from markets with non-local licenses are the causes of this reduction. The company’s October 2024 acquisition by La Française des Jeux (FDJ) was also crucial in bolstering these efforts. Kindred stated, “This shift reflects Kindred’s broader commitment to maintaining high regulatory standards and fostering safer gambling practices.”

Strengthening Responsible Gambling Measures

Esther Scheepers, Head of Responsible Gambling at Kindred Group, emphasized the company’s dedication to player protection. “It is pleasing to see the decline in high-risk revenue during the fourth quarter of last year. We know that the share fluctuates between quarters, but the long-term trend is showing a steady decline. We remain dedicated and focused on improving our systems and processes to ensure we offer our customers a safe and fun experience,” she said.

Scheepers also noted ongoing improvements to Kindred’s detection system. The company is integrating an advanced compliance system to enhance its approach to safer gambling. She added, “The increased focus on responsible gambling by regulators and the industry is welcomed. From our end, we see that by combining our expertise with emerging technologies, we can further enhance detection capabilities.”

Kindred is also expanding its research efforts to strengthen consumer protection strategies. “We are exploring opportunities to expand our research efforts, aiming to support data-driven discussions and looking at emerging trends in consumer protection,” Scheepers stated.
