Gavin Isaacs left his position as CEO of Entain after only five months. His departure has not been explained by the multinational casino operator, which is well-known for brands including Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet, and its BetMGM collaboration with MGM Resorts International.
When Jette Nygaard-Andersen resigned in December 2023, Isaacs assumed the role of CEO. Stella David took on the post of Non-Executive Chair after serving as Interim CEO throughout the transition. Following Isaacs’ departure, Senior Independent Director Pierre Bouchut assumes the role of Non-Executive Chair, while David has returned to her Interim CEO responsibilities.
David acknowledged the leadership shift, stating, “Entain is making strong progress in delivering our strategic priorities. We would like to thank Gavin for his contribution.”
Board Confirms Strong Performance
Despite Isaacs’ departure, Entain’s leadership remains optimistic about the company’s direction. Reports indicate no major disagreements over strategy, but some believe Isaacs’ extensive B2B background may not have aligned with the company’s primarily B2C operations.
The Board expressed confidence in the company’s performance. “The Board is pleased with the group’s performance in 2024 and trading so far this year. As announced on 13 January 2025, FY2024 Group EBITDA is expected to be at the top of the £1.04bn-£1.09bn ($1.29bn – $1.35bn) guidance range. The Board and management remain aligned on the Group’s focus on operational excellence and maximising shareholder value. I look forward to leading the business as we continue to accelerate our performance,” David stated.
However, Entain’s stock price has reacted negatively to the leadership change. As of 11 AM GMT, shares have dropped 10.1%, falling from £7.42 on February 10, 2025, to £6.67.
