Nevada Governor Appoints Chandeni Sendall to Gaming Control Board

Chandeni Sendall has been appointed by Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo to the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), which is the main regulating agency for the state’s gaming sector. After Brittnie Watkins declined to be reappointed, Sendall, a former Reno deputy city attorney, takes over the position. Her four-year tenure starts right away.

Extensive Legal and Gaming Experience

Sendall is a good fit for the role because of her solid background in compliance and the law. Through a variety of legal positions, she gained expertise in gaming law prior to joining Reno’s civil division. She worked as a legal intern for Caesars Entertainment before becoming a clerk for Justice James Hardesty of the Nevada Supreme Court. She also worked at McDonald Carano Wilson LLP and Lionel Sawyer & Collins in civil and commercial litigation.

Governor Lombardo praised her qualifications, stating, “With her unique background in law and compliance, Chandeni will bring fresh insight and critical perspective to the board. I look forward to her leadership and contributions to gaming oversight in our state.”

A graduate of UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, Sendall served as editor-in-chief of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. Before transitioning to law, she worked as an internal auditor for Caesars Entertainment, gaining first-hand experience in the gaming industry.

Her appointment comes at a time of transition for the NGCB. Chairman Kirk Hendrick has announced plans to step down following the 2025 Nevada legislative session. Hendrick, who took over in 2023, previously served as Chief Operating Officer for the UFC and as Senior Deputy Attorney General for gaming in Las Vegas.

The NGCB plays a vital role in regulating Nevada’s gaming sector, handling licensing, investigating complaints, and ensuring compliance with state laws. Board members serve four-year terms, but many leave before completing their tenure.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Sendall stated, “I’m grateful to Governor Lombardo for this opportunity to serve the State of Nevada. I look forward to applying my legal background, economics education, and gaming industry experience in this new role at the Nevada Gaming Control Board.”

With Sendall’s appointment, the NGCB continues to evolve, ensuring strong regulatory oversight for Nevada’s multi-billion-dollar gaming industry.
