Maryland Casinos Report Mixed Revenue Figures for December

Maryland Lottery and Gaming recently released data showing a slight drop in casino gaming revenue for December 2024. The state’s six casinos collectively brought in $164.1 million, reflecting a decrease of more than $1.5 million compared to December 2023.

Contributions to the state from casino gaming reached just over $69.8 million, marking a modest 0.5% decline year-over-year. Of this amount, more than $50.4 million was allocated to the Education Trust Fund, which supports public education initiatives in Maryland.

Mixed Performance Across Casinos

Among Maryland’s six casinos, MGM National Harbor and Ocean Downs Casino were the only venues to report growth compared to December 2023. MGM National Harbor saw a 4% increase in revenue, generating $73.6 million. Ocean Downs Casino recorded a smaller growth of 0.8%, reporting just under $7.1 million in gaming revenue.

However, the other four casinos faced declines. Horseshoe Casino experienced the sharpest drop, with revenue falling 12.9% to $13.2 million. Rocky Gap Casino followed with an 11.9% decrease, generating nearly $3.9 million. Live! Casino & Hotel saw a 2.4% decline, reporting $59.1 million, while Hollywood Casino dropped 6%, earning $7.1 million.

Total revenue increased by 1.2% compared to the same period in FY 2024. Contributions to the state rose by 2.5%, and funds directed to the Education Trust Fund increased by 2.6%.
