Nevada Gaming Commission to Review Regulatory Changes in Public Hearing

Today at 10 AM Pacific Time, the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) will hold a public hearing in Boulder City’s City Hall Council Chamber. Discussions about adopting, changing, or abolishing certain rules are on the agenda. Participants have the option of participating in person or through an online video conference.

The NGC emphasized the importance of public input, stating, “Any interested person, or their duly authorized representative, shall be afforded the opportunity to present statements, arguments or contentions in writing, with or without the opportunity to present the same orally.”

The commission will discuss a number of issues, including changes to Regulation 5.225. With these modifications, wagering accounts will be used for purposes other than placing bets. Additionally, they suggest removing from the concept of wagering accounts certain electronic ledgers connected to cashless gambling systems. In order to lessen the burden of mandatory transaction reporting, Regulation 8.130 will also be examined to elucidate exemptions for specific transactions that have already been looked into.

Settlement Agreement Reached with Former Casino Executive

In a separate development, the Nevada Gaming Control Board recently submitted a settlement agreement involving former casino executive Scott Sibella. Sibella, who previously held top positions at Resorts World and MGM Grand, will have his gaming license revoked and must pay a $10,000 fine.

Weeks before to Sibella’s appearance in federal court, the Gaming Control Board filed a three-count lawsuit, which was followed by this agreement. Reports state that the deal essentially puts a stop to his career in the casino industry in Nevada.
