November was a great month for Missouri’s gaming sector, as the state’s casinos generated an adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $153.6 million, according to the Missouri Gaming Commission. Compared to November 2023, the amount is a 4% increase, or around $6 million. Additionally, casino revenue increased by around $2 million month over month, demonstrating steady growth.
Top Performers Drive Revenue
Among the state’s casinos, Ameristar St. Charles claimed the top spot, generating close to $23.1 million in revenue for the month. River City followed with $20.9 million, outperforming Hollywood Casino, which reported $19.4 million. These three properties contributed significantly to the state’s overall earnings.
Despite these positive figures, Missouri’s year-to-date AGR stands at approximately $773.6 million, down 1% compared to last year’s total.
In November, Missouri voters approved the establishment of a legal sports betting market, marking a major milestone for the state. This decision moves Missouri closer to becoming the 39th state to embrace legalized sports wagering.
However, not all proposed measures gained support. Voters rejected Amendment 5, which would have permitted the construction of a new casino in the Lake of the Ozarks area.
Nationwide, 38 states and the District of Columbia currently offer legal sports betting, a trend Missouri is poised to join soon. The legalization of sports wagering could open up new revenue streams and attract further investments in the state’s gaming sector.
