On February 12, 2024, Churchill Downs’ $100 million Owensboro Racing & Gaming complex is scheduled to open. The plant, located in Kentucky close to the Indiana border, reaches a major milestone almost a year after it was first announced.
A retail sportsbook, 600 vintage racing machines, and simulcast betting are just a few of the many attractions that will be available at Owensboro Racing & Gaming. The Track Kitchen and The Starting Gate Bar & Lounge are also available to guests, guaranteeing a superb dining and entertainment experience.
In anticipation of the opening, Churchill Downs is actively hiring for various positions to support the venue’s operations. The project is expected to create 150 permanent jobs and generate an estimated $125 million in annual economic impact for the region.

Sign Up for Rewards Ahead of Opening
Churchill Downs is encouraging guests to register for a Players Club Card ahead of the grand opening. This rewards program is already accepting sign-ups at Ellis Park, the Owensboro Racing & Gaming office, and community events in the coming months.
Located at 460 Wrights Landing Road, the new property will also serve as an annex to Ellis Park racetrack in Henderson, supporting summer meets. This expansion follows the recent launch of Churchill Downs’ Terre Haute Casino Resort, further solidifying its regional presence.
