A major new component has been introduced to the Have A Game Plan initiative by the American Gaming Association (AGA). Bet Sensibly is a public service project. The fifth pillar of the campaign, Keep Your Cool, was revealed on Thursday. This addendum emphasizes how crucial it is to treat sportsmen with dignity and reaffirms that harassment is not acceptable in sports betting.
The expansion comes as the gaming industry sees increased recognition for its responsible gaming efforts. According to recent AGA research, 66% of Americans now view these initiatives as effective, a notable rise from 59% in 2023. Among active participants, the response is even stronger: 79% of physical casino patrons and 85% of sports bettors support the industry’s programs. Notably, younger bettors aged 18-24 also show high approval, with 73% endorsing these efforts.
Bill Miller, AGA’s President and CEO, praised the progress, stating, “Responsible gaming efforts like Have A Game Plan and other proactive efforts by legal operators are resonating with consumers and making a difference.”
Fostering a Respectful Betting Environment
The Keep Your Cool pillar focuses on curbing harmful behavior, reminding bettors that outcomes, whether favorable or disappointing, do not justify negative reactions toward athletes, officials, or teams. “‘Keep Your Cool’ builds on this momentum by reminding bettors that a betting result – good or bad – is not an invitation to criticize a team, official, or athlete,” Miller added.
This enhancement to the campaign aligns with the AGA’s broader mission to promote positive betting habits. By addressing both responsible gaming practices and respectful conduct, the AGA aims to set higher standards for sports wagering across the United States.
The expanded campaign reflects the industry’s commitment to creating a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for all participants, from bettors to athletes.
