The most recent statistics for the state’s casino and sports betting operations in October were released by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), and they demonstrate remarkable outcomes in both areas. The gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the three casinos in the state—Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield, and Encore Boston Harbor—was close to $94.2 million for the month.
Slot machines brought in over $66.3 million, the largest portion of the total GGR, while table games brought in another $27.9 million. With $57.8 million in October, Encore Boston Harbor was the top performer and accounted for almost half of the state’s total casino income. Plainridge Park Casino completed the results with $14.3 million, followed by MGM Springfield with about $22.1 million.
In total, the three casinos contributed almost $27 million in taxes to the state’s coffers for the month. carrying forward the good numbers from the last month.
Sports Betting Continues to Gain Momentum
October saw a total transaction of $748 million, making it another successful month for sports betting in Massachusetts. The majority, $735 million, was generated by online sports betting, with $13 million coming from retail sites. $9.7 million in state taxes resulted from $48.3 million in taxable gaming receipts from combined retail and online sports betting.
Massachusetts’ position as a significant U.S. market is further supported by this data, which shows sustained development in the casino and sports betting industries.
