Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Hits $496.6M in October 2024

The total gaming revenue for October 2024 was close to $496.6 million, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Retail slot machines and iGaming slots are the main drivers of this 2.8% annual growth. The revenue continues to flourish from the last month.

With $200.6 million in revenue, up 4.2% from October 2023, retail slot machines were the top earners. Out of all the gaming categories, iGaming slots saw the biggest increase, rising 28.3% to generate $109.8 million in revenue. The majority of the state’s gains during the month came from these two areas.

The PGCB regulates various gaming sources, including slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals (VGTs). Despite strong performances in certain areas, sports wagering saw a sharp decline. Revenue from sports betting dropped 43.2% year-over-year, totaling $27.4 million in October. Retail table games also faced a 9.3% dip but still managed to bring in $73.9 million, the third-highest of any gaming type.

Leading Casinos and Emerging Platforms

Among the state’s casinos, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course topped the revenue charts, earning $82.5 million, a 6.9% increase compared to last year. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed closely with $80.9 million in revenue, reflecting an impressive 25.6% growth. On the other hand, Hollywood Casino at the Meadows saw the steepest decline, with revenue dropping 37.1% to $21.5 million.

Additionally, new gaming platforms including Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers and Horseshoe Online Casino debuted in October. Future PGCB reports are anticipated to benefit from these systems, which are now accessible to players.
