Goa has taken a significant step in modernizing its lottery offerings with the launch of an app-based platform. Ticket sales began on November 19, and the first draw is set for November 24. The Directorate of Small Savings and Lotteries approved the platform, operated by Rhiti Group.
Rhiti Group founder Arun Pandey highlighted the initiative’s innovative approach. “Great Goa Games will give players ‘a secure and convenient way’ to play,” Pandey told MediaBrief. The platform’s development follows the directorate’s February 2023 release of regulations for online lotteries. Pandey added, “Our mission is to democratize opportunities through technology.”
Currently, 13 Indian states, including Goa—often called “the Las Vegas of India”—permit lottery games. However, many states have banned lotteries due to concerns over addiction, mismanagement, and corruption.
Narayan Gad, a Goa government official, expressed optimism about the platform’s potential to set a benchmark for the lottery sector. “The regulated games will set a new standard in the lottery industry. The technology-based product will enhance transparency and ensure improved monitoring and regulation of operations,” he stated.
