Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Imposes $50,000 Fine on Stadium Casino for Self-Exclusion Violations

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has enforced a $50,000 penalty on Stadium Casino after its Office of Enforcement found the casino in violation of self-exclusion regulations. The fine stems from incidents at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia, where the operator allowed four self-excluded individuals to gamble on its premises, an action prohibited under state law.

In Pennsylvania, casinos must strictly prevent self-excluded patrons from participating in gaming activities. The Board’s regulations mandate that casinos “refuse gaming privileges and other gaming-related activities such as the cashing of checks or cash advances” for self-excluded individuals. This measure aims to protect those who have opted to self-exclude as part of managing their gambling habits.

PGCB Adds Five Names to the iGaming Involuntary Exclusion List

In addition to Stadium Casino’s fine, the PGCB placed five individuals on the iGaming Involuntary Exclusion List. This action followed investigations by the Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, which uncovered fraudulent activities linked to these individuals’ online gaming accounts.

The PGCB’s role extends across Pennsylvania’s gaming industry, regulating 17 land-based casinos and overseeing 18 sports betting locations, 12 online sportsbooks, and 22 online casino platforms offering games such as slots, poker, and table games. It also supervises gaming at 74 truck stop establishments equipped with video gaming terminals (VGTs) and nine online fantasy sports platforms.

Established in 2004, the PGCB ensures that gaming operations across the state adhere to Pennsylvania’s strict legal framework. Its ongoing enforcement efforts, like those seen in the Stadium Casino case, illustrate the board’s commitment to maintaining responsible gaming environments and addressing any violations promptly.

By imposing fines and maintaining exclusion lists, the PGCB reinforces Pennsylvania’s dedication to responsible gambling practices and safeguards for its residents. As gambling continues to expand statewide, the PGCB’s regulatory presence remains essential to ensure that all players are treated fairly and that operators comply with legal standards.
