The family-run Ellis Island Casino, Hotel & Brewery in Las Vegas is getting ready for a significant property improvement even though it is named in a lawsuit against the Formula One Group. Amidst legal hurdles, the owners hope to modernize the facility and increase its appeal to tourists.
Casino’s Largest Expansion Yet
Ellis Island is about to undergo its biggest renovation in decades, according to a recent announcement. The gaming floor will be greatly expanded as part of the refurbishment, and 250 new slot machines and a brand-new pit area will be added. The venue will also include a renovated main bar, a rooftop event space, and the gaming upgrades. In addition, the well-liked Village Pub & Café and karaoke lounge will undergo renovations.
Bentar Construction and Steelman Partners will oversee the ambitious makeover, which is expected to cost $35 million. The owners’ dedication to keeping the casino relevant in Las Vegas is demonstrated by this significant investment, which represents the most comprehensive renovation in the establishment’s 50-year existence.
A Longstanding Icon on Koval Lane
Situated off the Las Vegas Strip, Ellis Island has long marketed itself as “the best-kept secret in Las Vegas since 1968.” Known for its low table game minimums, the venue attracts visitors seeking a more casual gaming experience.
Anamarie Ellis, the casino’s vice president of operations, expressed enthusiasm about the renovations, noting that guests can expect “new slot games and a fresh aesthetic.” Christina Ellis, vice president of development, echoed the sentiment, hoping the improvements will help Ellis Island remain a staple on Koval Lane.
While preparing for its expansion, Ellis Island is still engaged in a lawsuit against Formula 1 and Clark County. The lawsuit centers around the construction of a temporary bridge near the casino for the 2023 Vegas Grand Prix, which the owners claim caused significant financial damage. They are seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
Although a judge has heard arguments from both sides, no final decision has been made yet. Notably, this is not Ellis Island’s first legal clash with Formula 1, as the casino had previously attempted to halt the 2024 race, scheduled for November 21-23.
