The gaming revenue for September has been released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), revealing a noteworthy total of over $505.8 million from legal gambling and fantasy contests around the state. This represented a strong 6.2% growth over the previous year, which is indicative of the state’s expanding gaming sector. The revenue continued to get better from the last month.
Slot Games Lead the Way
Retail slot games emerged as the largest contributor to Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue, generating nearly $197 million in September. However, this figure represented a slight 1.5% decline compared to the previous year. Despite the dip in retail slot earnings, the state’s iGaming sector saw a notable rise, with online slot revenue jumping over 15% year-over-year to reach $132 million.
Sports betting also played a significant role, with a total handle of $811.2 million for the month. Meanwhile, iGaming overall brought in $176.7 million, and retail table games contributed $73.4 million in revenue. Sports betting specifically added $53.5 million to the total.
Valley Forge Casino Resort stood out as the top revenue generator in September, amassing $85.6 million—a remarkable 29.5% growth from the previous year. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and Parx Casino followed, reporting revenues of $82.5 million and $52.2 million, respectively.
Parx Casino dominated the slot revenue category, bringing in $30.2 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh ranked second and third, with Wind Creek earning $24.2 million and Rivers generating $20.7 million in slot revenue. Wind Creek Bethlehem also led in table games, posting nearly $18 million in revenue.
In total, the state collected an impressive $211.2 million in taxes from gaming activities for September.
