Simone Andrian has added another major title to his poker resume, winning the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event. The Italian pro outlasted 768 entries in the €10,350 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, claiming the first-place prize of $1.4 million. This victory marks his third WSOP gold bracelet and his largest cash to date.
The tournament’s prize pool swelled to over $8 million, far exceeding the event’s initial €5 million guarantee. Andrian walked away with the lion’s share after battling through several days of intense action, which culminated in a hard-fought heads-up match. This win represents a milestone in Andrian’s career, giving him his first seven-figure payout.
Before this, Andrian’s biggest cash came in 2021 when he won the €1,650 six-max no-limit hold’em event at WSOPE for $177,650, which earned him his first WSOP bracelet. His second bracelet came earlier this year during the WSOP Online International $800 deepstack event, adding another $156,230 to his growing poker earnings.
In 2023 Andrian had back to back wins, first in June winning the WPT Prime Main Event in San Remo, followed up by the Main Event title of PokerStars’ Malta Summer Festival a month later.
The WSOPE Main Event featured two starting flights, followed by four more days of intense play at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. A total of 116 players made the money, and the field was filled with notable names in the poker world. Players like Niklas Astedt, who finished third in the 2024 WSOP Main Event, took 98th place, while high-stakes legend Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom finished in 48th place. Other deep runs included David Dongwoo Ko (44th), Dietrich Fast (42nd), Shaun Deeb (34th), Sirzat Hissou (26th), and Anson Tsang (10th).
After his latest win, Andrian’s career earnings now exceed $2.9 million, with nearly half of that coming from this tournament alone. His ability to navigate such a strong field shows he is a force to be reckoned with in the poker world.
