Goldwin’s Authorization Halted by MGA Due to Anti-Player Policies

In a decisive move, the operator of Westcasino, Goldwin, has had its authorization suspended by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). This action is a reaction to claims of unfulfilled customer responsibilities and anti-player policies.

Regulatory Action and Compliance Failures

Effective September 2024, Goldwin, which held the MGA license number MGA/B2C/533/2018, is no longer authorized to perform gaming operations. The operator was suspended in accordance with Malta’s Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations after the MGA found that the operator had violated many compliance requirements.

The suspension prohibits Goldwin and its associated brands from any gaming activities. Importantly, the MGA has mandated that the company must still allow current players access to their accounts, ensuring they can withdraw their funds without hindrance. This decision underscores the authority’s commitment to protecting players and maintaining industry integrity.

The MGA outlined that Goldwin violated four provisions from regulation 9 of the Maltese regulations. Specifically, the operator failed to meet applicable obligations related to regulatory instruments or other laws in Malta. As a result, the MGA deemed Goldwin’s actions to pose an “imminent threat of serious prejudice to the interest of players.”

In light of the suspension, Goldwin has the right to appeal the MGA’s decision. This option allows the operator to challenge the regulatory authority’s findings and potentially restore its authorization.
