AGA Introduces Free RG-IES Tool to Strengthen Responsible Gaming Efforts

The Responsible Gaming Intervention Effectiveness Scale (RG-IES) was introduced by the American Gaming Association (AGA) in honor of Responsible Gaming Education Month. The impact of responsible gaming messages throughout the industry can be assessed for free using this tool, which was created by Drs. Jonathan Ross Gilbert and Marla Stafford.

A New Measure for Industry Responsibility

The RG-IES allows industry professionals and stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of responsible gaming messages. Through academic research, users can determine how well these messages resonate with players. The AGA emphasized the importance of this tool in enhancing responsible gaming practices, especially as the gambling industry continues to expand.

“We are grateful to the researchers who led this important project and look forward to seeing how this new scale helps bolster industry responsibility messaging campaigns,” said the AGA. The Association also acknowledged its members, Bally’s, FanDuel, and BetMGM, for their contributions in providing access to players for the creation of the RG-IES.

Along with the introduction of the RG-IES, the AGA also unveiled a prognosis for the NFL in 2024. Legal sports wagering is expected to bring in $35 billion for Americans this season, up from $26.7 billion the previous year, according to the Association. These figures, which are based on earlier studies, demonstrate how legal sports betting is becoming more and more common in the US.

The primary goal of the AGA is still to encourage responsible play. Toolkits such as the RG-IES will be crucial in helping the organization stay innovative while making sure that gamers are properly informed on responsible gaming.
