The Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. (TIHGI) of Alliance Global Inc. is getting ready to construct a new integrated resort, which might be a significant development for the Philippines. With construction expected to begin in 2025, this large-scale project is expected to increase tourism to the island nation.
Mactan World Resorts, the future resort, is scheduled to open in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan Island. This massive facility, which is expected to cost approximately $301 million, will have a hotel, a casino, and a number of entertainment venues. The goal of TIHGI is very clear: to increase the number of tourists that visit its properties and to establish a stronger foothold in the local market.
The company currently operates Newport World Resorts in Metro Manila’s Entertainment City, the Philippines’ largest integrated resort. By replicating the success of Newport World Resorts in Mactan Newtown, TIHGI aims to create another thriving tourist destination.
Economic Impact and Job Creation
In 2023, TIHGI secured a license to develop and operate the integrated resort within Mactan Newtown, setting the stage for the construction of Mactan World Resorts. The resort is expected to be completed by 2026, bringing significant economic benefits to the region.
Within the first five years of operation, industry analysts project that the resort will produce about $4.3 million in business and property taxes. Additionally, Georgina Alvarez, the executive director of TIHGI, estimates that the project will generate about 5,000 additional jobs.
The resort is ideally situated to draw a sizable number of foreign guests because to its proximity to Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Cebu is currently the second most popular tourist destination in the Philippines, after Manila, which is encouraging for Mactan World Resorts’ prospects.
