Northern Lights Casino to Undergo Major Expansion, Enhancing Gaming Experience

A significant expansion project for the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, has been announced by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA). The casino’s indoor and outdoor spaces will be greatly expanded by this multimillion-dollar project. With a planned completion date of 2026, construction is scheduled to begin in late September and last up to two years.

The casino’s current area will be impressively expanded by 31,000 square feet thanks to the development. The main gaming floor has been expanded, a high-limits slots area has been added, and the Smoking Room has been expanded. Improved kitchen, sports bar, and restaurant sections along with a new combined deli and floor bar are all part of the planned renovations to the food and beverage offerings.

A New Era for Northern Lights Casino

“Northern Lights Casino is among our busiest venues out of seven across the province,” stated Zane Hansen, President and CEO of SIGA. He acknowledged that the current facility has outgrown its capacity. The expansion aims to accommodate the increasing number of visitors and elevate the casino’s role as a major tourism destination for the region and beyond. Hansen emphasized that this development would bring significant economic benefits to Prince Albert and the broader province.

Situated on Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation property, the casino is about to undergo a thorough renovation that will incorporate contemporary facilities with SIGA’s dedication to providing hospitality to First Nations people. The renovation will honor the casino’s cultural heritage while updating the outside and inside.

Angela Isbister, General Manager of Northern Lights Casino, highlighted the casino’s longstanding role in the local community. “For over 28 years, Northern Lights Casino has been integral to the local area,” she said. She noted that the expansion will benefit local businesses and support various community events, including sporting and cultural activities.
