According to a new consumer poll by the American Gaming Association (AGA), most Americans are becoming more and more in favor of sports betting and casino gaming. According to the report, nine out of 10 Americans now consider sports betting to be a legitimate kind of entertainment, underscoring the industry’s rising appeal.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a countrywide ban, sports betting has been legal in over 35 states during the past six years. This change is reflected in the poll, as 75% of participants concur that the gaming sector behaves ethically in their local communities. Furthermore, the same proportion of Americans favor allowing sports betting in their state of residence.
Industry’s Commitment to Responsible Gaming
Joe Maloney, AGA’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications, emphasized the importance of these findings. He noted, “These latest survey results highlight a consistent trend over the years: as gaming expands to new audiences, Americans increasingly see the benefits of a legal, regulated gaming marketplace that contributes to communities, prioritizes responsibility, and provides unmatched entertainment.”
The AGA released this study in anticipation of Responsible Gaming Education Month, set to begin in September. This annual event aims to increase awareness and promote responsible gaming practices across the industry.
Maloney further stressed that players are becoming more aware of the industry’s efforts to ensure responsible play. He concluded, “The gaming industry’s responsibility efforts are stronger than ever, and consumers are noticing. As we embark on another Responsible Gaming Education Month, we’re more energized than ever to continue our work to give consumers the legal, safe, and fun gaming experiences that they want and deserve.”
