According to a recent Kindbridge Behavioral Health study, addressing gambling addiction significantly improves mental health. Although there are relapses from time to time and different people have different levels of success, the data indicates that intervention tactics are beneficial.
Significant Mental Health Gains from Gambling Addiction Treatment
Kindbridge, a company that specializes in treating gambling addiction, has long connected the illness to other mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and sleeplessness. But according to their most recent research, treating gambling addiction may also help with these associated conditions.
Over the course of the 12-week trial, 279 individuals were observed, and the findings indicated a significant decrease in depressed symptoms. Kindbridge credits this progress to their focused therapy approaches, which incorporate education, counseling, and customized intervention techniques. The business claims that many of its clients, who scored highly on a 10/10 motivation scale, came forward for assistance following their participation in gambling self-exclusion programs.
The company’s data also highlight the effectiveness of their approach across different demographics, including age and gender. While the treatment approach varies slightly between those addicted to land-based versus online gambling, the core strategies remain consistent.
Kindbridge’s research suggests that treating gambling addiction may also address underlying conditions that contribute to the problem. Notably, the majority of the clients in the study—around 58%—were primarily online gamblers. This insight drives Kindbridge’s focus on developing specialized support systems for different types of gambling addiction.
Beyond general treatment, Kindbridge has taken steps to address niche areas, such as their recent initiative to support military personnel struggling with gambling addiction. In June, they launched the Military Gambling Awareness Committee, aiming to improve the mental well-being and combat-readiness of military staff affected by gambling issues.
