Bally’s Interactive has been approved by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) to begin offering online sports betting in the state. This is Bally’s Interactive’s eighth US market entry.
Bally’s Interactive demonstrated the technological power of the platform to the commission last week by showcasing the Bally Bet brand. Bally’s entry into Maryland’s regulated betting market was made possible by the system’s successful testing on July 25. With this approval, Bally’s joins the 12 live retail sportsbooks that are currently active in Maryland as the 13th online sportsbook.
The Veterans Services Corporation also entered the online betting business in Maryland prior to the establishment of Bally Bet. This latest admission showcases the state’s growing sports wagering and betting scene.
Expanding Bally Bet’s Presence
Maryland now becomes the ninth state where Bally Bet operates, alongside Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. Although not the most popular brand, Bally Bet has been steadily growing its presence across the US. The company remains committed to bolstering its footprint and consistency despite trailing behind some of its competitors.
In Maryland, Bally Bet will contribute to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports local public education programs. In the fiscal year 2023-24, the fund secured $60.3 million in tax revenue from sports betting operations. Additionally, Maryland’s betting market saw a handle of $384 million in June.
Bally Bet’s entry into Maryland follows Betfred’s recent exit from the state. Betfred decided to leave after recording the tenth-lowest handle among the 13 licensed sportsbooks in Maryland.
With this launch, Bally’s Interactive continues its expansion in the US, aiming to provide innovative and reliable sports betting experiences to its growing customer base.
