According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the state’s total gaming income for the month of June in 2024 was $471.98 million. When compared to the same month last year, this is a noteworthy gain of 7.2%. Slot machines, table games, online gambling, sports betting, fantasy sports, and video gaming terminals (VGTs) are some of the many varied revenue streams.
Even though they generated around $201 million less in revenue than they did in June 2023 by 0.3%, retail slot machines topped the revenue tables. On the other hand, iGaming slot revenue increased by 21.6% to $119.4 million. The revenue from retail table games was $76.1 million, a slight decline of 0.2% from the previous year. In the meantime, revenue from online table games increased by 12% to $39 million.
Sports wagering also showed strong growth, with revenues of $29.9 million, a 29.6% increase compared to the previous year. Collectively, all forms of gaming and fantasy contests contributed to a total tax revenue of $198 million in June 2024.
Casino Performance Highlights
Pennsylvania’s 19 regulated gaming properties saw varied performances. Hollywood Casino at the Pennsylvania National Race Course topped the list with $74.1 million in revenue, a 2.2% increase from June 2023. Valley Forge Casino and Resort and Parx Shippensburg reported the highest revenue jumps, with Valley Forge rising by 24.8% to $63.9 million and Parx Shippensburg increasing by 22.4% to just under $3 million.
Bally’s Pennsylvania, a “mini-casino” that opened in 2022, saw an astounding 678% gain in revenue from the previous year, totaling $3.5 million. Mohegan, Pennsylvania, on the other hand, saw the biggest drop, down 12.5% to $17.3 million. There were revenue declines of no more than 4% at other casinos, such as Presque Isle Downs and Casino ($8.7 million), Live! Casino Pittsburgh ($9.8 million), Mount Airy Casino and Resort ($19.7 million), Rivers Casino Pittsburgh ($27.7 million), and Parx Casino ($50.3 million).
Though every casino performance varies, Pennsylvania’s gambling industry as a whole continues to develop strongly, propelled by notable rises in iGaming and sports wagering revenues.
