Daniel Perkusic Wins WSOP $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller

Daniel Perkusic from Germany has won the 2024 World Series of Poker $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller. He was the last man standing among 187 entrants, securing his first WSOP bracelet and a prize of $2,100,325.

The final day started with five players, four of whom had already won WSOP bracelets. Perkusic was the only one without a bracelet, but after just a few hours, he was celebrating his win. This victory marks Perkusic’s second live tournament win, his first being at the 2022 European Poker Tour Barcelona €10,200 PLO event, where he won $268,042. His latest win brings his total tournament earnings to nearly $2.8 million.

The tournament’s 187 entries created a prize pool of $8,929,250. Notable players who made it to the money included Dan Smith (27th), Dylan Weisman (25th), Anthony Zinno (20th), Jason Mercier (18th), Cary Katz (12th), Sean Winter (10th), Ben Lamb (9th), Brian Rast (8th), and David Benyamine (7th).

Danny Tang, a Triton Series regular and familiar face on the Asian Poker Tour, led the final day’s chip count, with Perkusic in the middle. Santhosh Suvarna was the first to be eliminated, earning $503,085 for fifth place. His overpair of aces couldn’t beat Perkusic’s flopped set of eights. Ronald Keijzer was next to go, earning $692,232 for fourth place after his bluff was called by Tang’s queens full of tens.

Jim Collopy, a three-time bracelet winner, finished third. His pocket kings couldn’t overcome Perkusic’s pocket aces, and he took home $973,882, his largest score to date.

Heads-up play began with Perkusic holding a slight lead over Tang. Tang briefly took the lead but Perkusic quickly regained it and extended his advantage. In the final hand, Perkusic’s A♠ K♠ 9♣ 2♣ went up against Tang’s K♦ 6♠ 6♥ 5♣. The flop revealed K♣ 9♦ 6♦, giving Tang a set of sixes. However, Perkusic’s top two pair improved to a full house on the river, securing his victory.

Tang earned $1,400,217 as the runner-up, bringing his total tournament earnings to over $28.2 million.
