Arash Ghaneian Wins WSOP $10K Stud Eight-or-Better Championship

Arash Ghaneian, a finance broker from Las Vegas, has won his second World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in Event #74: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship. Ghaneian outlasted 167 entries to claim the top prize of $376,476, nine years after his first WSOP win.

In 2015, Ghaneian secured his first bracelet in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event under stressful circumstances. His wife had received urgent medical news about the twins she was carrying, requiring immediate surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and both mother and children recovered well.

This year, Ghaneian faced no such personal emergencies and focused solely on the tournament. He navigated a challenging final table and endured a lengthy heads-up battle with Richard Sklar. The intense match required an extra, unplanned fourth day of play to determine the winner.

Ghaneian’s latest victory brings his career tournament earnings to over $1,373,000. The event’s $1,553,100 prize pool was divided among the top 26 finishers. Notable players who made deep runs included bracelet winners Dario Sammartino (26th), Adam Friedman (25th), Chris Vitch (22nd), Naoya Kihara (18th), Owais Ahmed (17th), Michael Noori (16th), and Todd Brunson (4th). Other notable names included longtime WSOP commentator Norman Chad (15th), Brad Rubin (12th), Michael Rocco (8th), Andrey Zhigalov (7th), Dario Alioto (6th), and Eric Wasserson (5th).

After his win, Ghaneian shared his thoughts with reporters. “We came in today, we battled,” he said. “When the limits went that high, you know, I talked to him right after dinner and said, ‘Hey, this could go either way.’ And the cards fell my way at the end, and I’m grateful to win the second one.”
