Kansas Casinos Report Growth in May Gaming Revenue

The most recent gaming income statistics for the state’s several casinos and resorts have been made public by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. In May 2024, Boot Hill Casino and Resort recorded $4.06 million in gaming revenue, an increase from $3.9 million in the same month the previous year. The property is still working toward matching its 2023 year-to-date (YTD) income total, though. Boot Hill has so far disclosed $43.6 million for 2024, which is 2% less than it did for the same period in 2023.

Kansas Star Casino and Resort also reported an increase in gaming revenue, with a 10.2% rise from the $12.7 million recorded in May 2023. In May 2024, $11.5 million of the total revenue came from electronic gaming machines, while table games contributed just under $2.5 million. Despite this growth, the property’s YTD revenue of $146.9 million for 2024 slightly lags behind the $148.7 million reported by May 2023.

Hollywood Casino Outperforms Previous Year

Hollywood Casino and Resort is the only property to report a higher YTD gaming revenue compared to May 2023. The property has generated $148.7 million so far in 2024, a 3.4% increase from the previous year. For May 2024 alone, Hollywood Casino reported just under $14.5 million in revenue, compared to $12.5 million in May 2023.

Kansas Crossing Casino and Resort reported $3.5 million in gaming revenue for May 2024, slightly higher than the $3.4 million reported in May 2023. However, its YTD gaming revenue of $35.8 million for 2024 has yet to match the $38 million generated by May 2023.

Gaming revenue from Kansas properties is shared with the state (22%), local areas of the properties (3%), and the problem gaming share (2%).
