George Alexander from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, secured his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in the 2024 $10,000 Razz Championship. After several close finishes in past events, Alexander finally claimed victory, earning a career-best $282,443.
Before this win, Alexander had cashed in six $10,000 buy-in championship events at the WSOP between 2019 and 2024 but had never captured the gold bracelet. This time, with his seventh attempt, he emerged victorious, significantly surpassing his previous best score of $77,985 for a fifth-place finish in the 2023 $10,000 Stud Championship. His total recorded tournament earnings now exceed $532,000 according to TheHendonMob.
The 2024 Razz Championship attracted 118 entries, creating a prize pool of $1,097,400. The top 18 finishers received a share of this pool, including notable players such as six-time bracelet winner Scott Seiver (18th), bracelet winner Todd Brunson (16th), bracelet winner Alexander Livingston (14th), five-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon (12th), six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu (11th), two-time bracelet winner Robert Campbell (10th), 11-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey (9th), Jared Bleznick (7), John Racener (6th), and Ren Lin (3rd).
In the heads-up play, Alexander faced Dzmitry Urbanovich, holding a 2:1 chip lead. Alexander further extended his lead with a nine low. In the final hand, Urbanovich, with a 9-8-5-3, was outdrawn by Alexander’s 8-7-6-A, which improved to a 9-8-7-6-A on seventh street. Urbanovich received a queen on the end, securing his second-place finish and $188,296. The Polish professional now has nearly $7.7 million in career earnings.
