Choctaw Landing Opens New Resort and Casino

Choctaw Landing, the new resort and casino by the Choctaw Nation, celebrated its grand opening with over 300 attendees. This new development has created more than 400 jobs in southeast Oklahoma.

The resort boasts 100 guest rooms, including 15 suites, along with three conference rooms and additional meeting spaces. Guests can enjoy various amenities, such as a hotel restaurant, multiple dining and bar options, a fitness center, and a pool area. The casino features 600 slot machines and eight table games, including roulette and blackjack.

Chief Gary Batton of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma led the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event included Choctaw dancers and singers, and attendees participated in traditional Choctaw activities like pottery and flintknapping.

Choctaw Landing has also collaborated with over 20 Choctaw artists to create original artwork for the resort. An Art Hike was organized to showcase and celebrate these artists’ work.

The $238 million project is expected to have a $95 million economic impact on the region. Chief Batton expressed his excitement about the development, stating, “Any time you can bring our culture and our history together, along with economic development for our Tribal members and the citizens of this area, it’s a great day. We broke ground down here two years ago, and to see our grand opening today and all the things we’re going to be able to bring to McCurtain County, it’s exciting. I love that we’re seeing our culture and history displayed here and that it’s an economic boost to this area. Hopefully people will learn about Choctaw Nation here more than ever before.”

Heidi Grant, Senior Executive Officer, emphasized the cultural focus of the project. “From the planning stages years ago, we knew that we wanted to bring something to this community that brought culture first and foremost. Culture was prevalent in the design and development stages. We were very considerate about the nature and community aspects and how we could fit and complement this area.”
