WestLotto Retains Control of Europe’s Largest Lottery

The general conference of the 19 Eurojackpot nations in Bled, Slovenia, determined that WestLotto, the state lottery business of North Rhine-Westphalia, will continue to hold its crucial administrative position for an additional three years.

Andreas Kötter, managing director of WestLotto, was re-elected as chairman, demonstrating his continued leadership in administering the Eurojackpot, which has been acclaimed as the most successful lottery launch in history.

“Eurojackpot is a European success story. We are proud to be significantly involved and to continue our work,” stated Andreas Kötter.

Central Hub for Eurojackpot Operations

Since the inception of Eurojackpot in 2012, WestLotto has been the central hub for managing the lottery. From its headquarters in Münster, WestLotto records tips from all participating countries and evaluates winnings and odds.

Starting with lottery companies from seven countries, Eurojackpot now boasts participation from 19 nations, including Greece’s OPAP, which recently joined in March. Germany contributes through all 16 federal state companies from the German Lotto and Toto Block (DLTB).
