The Chickasaw Nation recently celebrated the grand opening of its Lakecrest Hotel and Casino with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Situated on State Highway 70 near Lake Murray in South Central Oklahoma, this new complex boasts a 70,000-square-foot casino, featuring over 1,000 electronic games and eight table games. In addition to gaming facilities, the site includes a boutique, coffee shop, restaurant, bar, and an 89-room hotel complete with a pool, business center, and conference space.
Tribal Governor Bill Anoatubby highlighted the project’s role in bolstering regional tourism and economic development, expressing his pride in the initiative. “The Chickasaw Nation is always seeking ways to positively impact our citizens and our communities, and the new Lakecrest Casino and Hotel will do just that,” Anoatubby stated. He emphasized the Nation’s ongoing tradition of entrepreneurship and community building, noting that the new facility will serve the local community and the broader Chickasaw Nation.
Adding to the resort experience, the property includes an RV park equipped with 20 slips, Wi-Fi, electrical hookups, and online booking, aiming to deliver modern amenities in a welcoming environment.
Chickasaw Nation Secretary of Commerce Dan Boren noted, “Lakecrest is a perfect getaway for people seeking a change of scenery with an added element of excitement.” He pointed out the potential of Lakecrest to attract visitors from Texas, Arkansas, and neighboring states, furthering its appeal as a premier destination.
The project, located in Carter County, is expected to significantly influence the local economy, with an estimated $3.7 million annual payroll and about 450 jobs. Economic studies suggest the regional economy could see an impact of approximately $102.4 million in the first year alone, with a projected five-year economic impact of $307.6 million.
Governor Anoatubby also spoke about the broader implications of the new development. “When we look at this property, we see more than just the fun and entertainment, or the peace and relaxation of luxury accommodations,” he explained. “We see employment and the creation of hundreds of new jobs. We see the positive economic impact on the economies of Ardmore and Carter County. Most of all, we see the multitude of ways it will directly contribute to meeting our mission to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people.”
