Caesars Initiates Construction of Sportsbook at Monmouth Park

Monmouth Park and Caesars Entertainment embarked on a groundbreaking endeavor as they ceremoniously kicked off the construction of a cutting-edge trackside sportsbook and entertainment complex, slated to unveil its doors to the public in 2025. This landmark development signifies a significant milestone, as it marks the first venture outside of Atlantic City to offer sports betting in New Jersey.

The forthcoming facility, coupled with a full-service restaurant, is poised to redefine the sports entertainment landscape, boasting a sprawling expanse of 16,000 square feet dedicated to both indoor and outdoor sports viewing. Enthusiasts can indulge in an immersive experience, surrounded by wall-to-wall flat-screen televisions, tantalizing culinary delights from renowned restaurant partner Shake Shack, and an array of over 25 self-service betting kiosks.

The ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony witnessed the presence of luminaries from Monmouth Park, Caesars Sportsbook, alongside local dignitaries, who wielded golden shovels to inaugurate this momentous occasion.

“We are proud to continue investing in Monmouth Park to elevate the sports betting experience for New Jersey sports fans,” expressed Dan Shapiro, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Caesars Digital, underscoring the commitment to enhancing the realm of sports betting in the region.

He further added, “The sportsbook at Monmouth Park has been a success since Gov. Phil Murphy placed the state’s first legal sports bet in 2018 and continues to be an outstanding complement to our online businesses. We look forward to continuing our support for horse racing in New Jersey and bringing sports fans and racing fans to this historic racetrack.”

Dennis Drazin, Chairman and CEO of Darby Development, the operator of Monmouth Park, echoed sentiments of excitement, envisioning the forthcoming Caesars Sportsbook as a pinnacle of excellence. He expressed, “We’re extremely excited to begin this next chapter with the upcoming opening of the new Caesars Sportsbook at Monmouth Park. This facility will be state-of-the-art with all the amenities that a first-class sportsbook can offer to patrons.”

Monmouth Park has long been at the forefront of the sports betting revolution. In 2018, it etched its name in history by accepting the first legal in-person sports wager in New Jersey post the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). The acquisition of William Hill by Caesars in 2020 paved the way for the rebranding of the space as Caesars Sportsbook in early 2022, further solidifying its position as a trailblazer in the realm of sports wagering.
