An agreement has been strategically negotiated between Cloudflare and the Kansspelautoriteit Gaming Authority (KSA) with the goal of countering illicit gaming operations in the Netherlands.
According to the terms of the agreement, Cloudflare will be important in helping KSA identify companies that are providing unlawful gaming services by supplying vital information. With the ability to actively interact with Cloudflare during investigations, KSA may now better investigate and identify the hosting parties behind surge in illegal gaming providers.
Cloudflare’s Role in Enforcement
The partnership follows a prior directive from KSA to Cloudflare to cease services to two illegal gambling providers, NederlandsCasinos.net and OnlineCasinosSpelen.com. Although Cloudflare couldn’t unilaterally block these operators, it was recognized that the company could provide valuable information to support enforcement efforts. Consequently, the initial directive was withdrawn, and agreements were reached to combat illegal gambling activities more effectively.
The KSA reiterated the prohibition of offering games of chance in the Netherlands without a license and emphasized that promoting illegal gambling is against the law. To counter illegal offerings, KSA employs various measures, including imposing barriers at payment providers or internet service providers. By ensuring that these intermediaries cease offering services to illegal providers, the KSA aims to impede illegal gambling activities and potentially halt them altogether.
The partnership between KSA and Cloudflare highlights how crucial it is to take coordinated action to stop illegal gaming and protect the integrity of the gambling sector.
