Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Fines Local Operators

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has fined two local operators a total of $20,000 in response to its actions. The PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel consent agreements were followed in order to authorize the penalty.

Stadium Casino and Crown PA, a.k.a. DraftKings, were fined in a public meeting. A $10,000 punishment was imposed on Stadium Casino, an online casino, for providing “unapproved college prop bets through its subcontracted Betway platform.” In the meanwhile, DraftKings was fined $10,000 for permitting participants in Pennsylvania to participate in its “Reignmakers” fantasy competitions, even though the board had directed them to exclude the games from the state.

Decrease in Fines Compared to Previous Months

When compared to the fines of the previous month, this month’s penalties represent a significant drop. In February, the PGCB authorized consent agreements against casino operators and assessed penalties totaling $212,500 for problems pertaining to inadequate processes and underage gaming.

The next meeting of the board is set for April 24 at 10 AM at the Strawberry Square Complex in Harrisburg.

In other developments, the PGCB has partnered with many state organizations to support National Problem Gambling Awareness Month by promoting awareness of problem gambling. By collaborating with the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), the Pennsylvania Lottery, the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania (CCGP), and a person in long-term recovery, the PGCB hopes to raise awareness of the significance of identifying and resolving problem gambling concerns.
