PokerStars Announces Barny Boatman as Newest Team Pro

PokerStars has added a new member to its Team Pro lineup, British poker icon Barny Boatman, following his recent €1.2m win at the 2024 EPT Paris. This announcement was made during a live episode of Poker in the Ears at London’s Hippodrome Casino, a celebration of the podcast’s 300th episode, hosted by James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton. Boatman will now not only be the oldest EPT Main Event winner, but also the oldest Team PokerStars Pro.

Kevin Harrington, the CEO of PokerStars, expressed his enthusiasm for Boatman’s joining, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Barny Boatman to the PokerStars family. His reputation as one of the most respected and accomplished players in the industry precedes him.”

Boatman, known for his quick decision-making skills, will be seen representing PokerStars at both online and live events, contributing to promotional campaigns, and participating in educational initiatives to support the global poker community’s growth. His participation is highly anticipated at the Irish Poker Open, recalling his memorable final table appearance in 2006.

Reflecting on his new role, Boatman shared, “Everything was very natural and straightforward. It’s an absolute honour and PokerStars are the absolute perfect people for me to be doing this with.” He also reminisced about PokerStars’ early support of the European Poker Tour, emphasizing his desire to give back to the community that has greatly influenced the live poker scene.

Boatman’s career, which spans over 25 years, has seen various sponsorships, but he regards his partnership with PokerStars as particularly special, emphasizing a mutual respect and shared history with many of its members. “I feel like I’m doing it absolutely because I want to and there’s no pressure to do it. It’s a relationship I want with something that I really like,” he added, highlighting the organic development of this new alliance.
