The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) enhanced its Industry Forum with a slate of new appointments, signaling a fresh chapter in its engagement with the gambling sector. Initially introduced in 2023, this forum assembles leaders from the gambling industry to offer critical insights and guidance to the regulator amidst ongoing industry reforms.
In a significant update, the UKGC confirmed the addition of nine seasoned professionals to the forum, joining Nick Rust, who was appointed as the forum’s chairman in November. These new members hail from some of Britain’s top gambling enterprises, bringing a wealth of experience to the table. Among the appointees are Tony Boulton, Director of Public and Political Relations at Merkur UK, Kristy Caldwell from Betsmart Consulting, and Charles Cohen, CEO of Department of Trust and NED at Games Global.
The forum’s expansion doesn’t stop there. Ashley Padgett of Flutter, serving as the Director of Compliance and AML for the UK and Ireland, will contribute her expertise alongside Mark Pearson, Betfred’s Head of Media, and Nigel Roddis, Managing Director at Britbet. Additionally, Leo Walker from Entain, Helen Walton of g.games, and David Williams from Rank Group have been enlisted to share their insights and expertise.
Nick Rust, the chairman of the Industry Forum, expressed his enthusiasm for the new members: “It was difficult to leave quite a few of those people out, but I’m delighted with the quality and experience of the appointees, and hope as a group we can offer perspectives from across all parts of the industry which the Commission can draw upon to help evolve and improve its performance as the regulator.”
The UKGC announced that the Industry Forum’s inaugural meeting is set for March 21. This session will mark the beginning of a collaborative effort to channel the group’s collective knowledge and experience into actionable advice for the Commission.
