Mohegan to End Management at Resorts Casino in 2024

By the close of 2024, Mohegan will step away from its role in managing the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, bringing to a close a partnership that started in 2012. This collaboration saw Mohegan not only acquiring a 10% stake in Resorts but also marking a historic moment as the first Native American group to oversee a casino in Atlantic City.

Throughout this partnership, Mohegan and the ownership teams of Bailey and Jerome have significantly shaped the gaming and hospitality landscape in Atlantic City. The casino became the first in Atlantic City to offer daily fantasy sports for example. Despite the upcoming transition, Mohegan’s 10% ownership in Resorts remains unchanged, with the management agreement continuing through December 2024.

Reflecting on the years of partnership, Mohegan President & CEO Ray Pineault shared:

“We’re extremely proud of our relationship with Resorts Casino Hotel and what we have helped accomplish. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our Resorts team members, guests and the Atlantic City community for their support and dedication throughout our tenure as manager.”

On the other side, Resorts Casino Hotel Owner Morris Bailey acknowledged the critical role Mohegan played during challenging times. He stated:

“Mohegan has been a valuable partner and we are grateful for their contribution to our success. We entered into a management agreement with Mohegan at a time when Resorts faced many operational, economic and market challenges. Mohegan brought stability and direction to Resorts by helping to assemble a stellar management team which will remain in place. We are happy that, with Mohegan’s help, Resorts has reached a point where it is able to operate independently.”
