Betsson Invests €27.5 Million in Holland Gaming Technology Purchase

Betsson has finalized a deal to purchase Holland Gaming Technology and its game studio, Holland Power Gaming, for €27.5 million. With this acquisition, paid from Betsson’s own funds, the operator is back in the Dutch market after previously having snubbed this. Holland Gaming Technology Ltd operates in the Netherlands, holding a casino gaming license and providing games on its websites.

The purchase agreement specifies an initial payment of €16 million, with additional payments of €9 million and €2.5 million scheduled for six and twelve months after closing, respectively. Betsson aims to enhance its revenue from regulated markets through this acquisition, supporting its strategy for profitable growth via geographic expansion.

This acquisition marks a significant step for Betsson, especially following a year where the company’s revenue surged by 22% to €948.2 million. It also comes after Betsson’s recent expansion into Belgium, where it launched an online casino through its Betfirst brand, acquired last year.

Despite a previous withdrawal from the Dutch online gambling licence application in July 2023, citing delays in the approval process, Betsson’s latest move signals a renewed focus on the Netherlands. Holland Power Gaming will continue providing exclusive games for Holland Gaming Technology, which possesses a Dutch casino gaming license.
