The first WSOP Paradise event launched at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas, drawing poker enthusiasts worldwide. The event started on December 3, with Daniel Negreanu, the GGPoker Global Ambassador, initiating the series. The opening event, Mystery Millions, attracted 3,446 players and surpassed its $5 million guarantee. This achievement made it the largest live poker event in the Bahamas, with Jeremy Lavi Dan securing a $500,000 bounty.
WSOP Paradise assembled renowned poker players such as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Jamie Gold, and recent WSOP Main Event winners Daniel Weinman, Espen Jørstad, and Koray Aldemir. Additionally, sports celebrities like Tony Parker, Becky Hammon, Sergio Agüero, and Nick Wright have also come down to this tropical poker paradise.
One of the event’s highlights includes Tony Parker’s successful run in the Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold’em, marking his first monetary win in a WSOP event. Another significant achievement was meeting the $10 million guarantee for the GGMillion$ High Rollers Championship.
Ty Stewart, the Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, expressed excitement about WSOP Paradise’s success. He highlighted the record-breaking turnout in the Bahamas and looked forward to the unfolding events, especially the WSOP Paradise Main Event. He said:
“Poker in paradise is rolling along and WSOP Paradise at Atlantis Paradise Island is already setting records and smashing guarantees.
“The WSOP can celebrate another ‘first’ with the record for the largest live poker event ever put together in the Bahamas. With more action set to unfold in paradise and some of the biggest names from the poker world in attendance, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the first WSOP Paradise Main Event at Atlantis.”
