WPT Rock ‘n’ Roll Open Main Event Pays Istvan Briski $647,300 for First Place

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, recently hosted the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open (RRPO), which concluded with Hungarian player Istvan Briski claiming the first-place prize of $647,300. This win came in the $3,500 World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship, marking Briski’s first major victory in a live tournament. He emerged victorious from a field of 1,447 entries, defeating Rayan Chamas in the final heads-up match.

The RRPO, which included 49 primary events, began on November 15 with a $400 Deep Stack NLH. This event drew 7,532 entries, the second-highest in Florida’s history, and was won by Richard Saunders of Hampstead, N.H., who took home $192,398.

Other notable winners in the RRPO included Nathan Thrush (Post Falls, Idaho), Adam Hendrix (Anchorage, Ark.), Aleksejs Ponakovs (Riga, Latvia), and Richard Saunders (Hampstead, N.H.) in their respective events.

The next major poker series at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is the Lucky Hearts Poker Open (LHPO), set to take place from January 11 to January 24, 2024. The LHPO will feature a Deep Stack NLH series opener with a $1 million guarantee and a WPT NLH Championship with a $2 million guarantee.
