Danny Tang, the well-known Hong Kong (high-stakes) poker professional, recently took his fifth career title on the Triton Poker series, tying with Phil Ivey for the second-most wins on this prestigious high-stakes tour. Only Jason Koon, holding nine titles, stands ahead of Tang in the Triton rankings.
Tang took his most recent win in the Triton Super High Roller Series Monte Carlo. In the $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em eight-max event, Tang outplayed a field of 136 entrants, netting $1,580,000. This win was not only his 14th cash in 2023 but also the fourth-largest prize in his career.
Before 2023, Tang had secured over $4.7 million from the Triton Poker series, featuring in 11 cashes. Despite his consistent top-five finishes and twice being the runner-up, a first-place victory had eluded him. This changed dramatically with his victory in the $25,000 short deck event at Triton Vietnam, sparking a winning streak for Tang, who claimed four more titles soon after.
To date, Tang’s achievements in the 2023 series have contributed a staggering $9,003,200 to his total earnings, bringing his cumulative winnings on the Triton tour to over $13.7 million. This accounts for nearly 60 percent of his overall career earnings of $22,915,529.
