The spotlight often falls on the stars, but Bryan Cranston, the acclaimed actor from ‘Breaking Bad,’ wants to change that narrative. Partnering with the Entertainment Community Fund, Cranston is gearing up to host the ‘Lights! Camera! Ante Up! Celebrity Poker Tournament’ on Sunday, November 12, at 1 PM Pacific time. This fundraiser aims to assist industry employees, especially those impacted by the ongoing writers’ strike.
Cranston’s heartfelt message reveals the true motive behind the event. “Hollywood could not produce one TV show or movie without the artisans behind the scenes. This poker tournament is about supporting the incredible people my friends and I are so lucky to work with every day … just as the Entertainment Community Fund has been doing for more than 140 years,” he shared.
The event promises to be a star-studded affair. Hollywood’s elite, including Jason Alexander, Andy Garcia, Jon Hamm, Adam Carolla, and Kevin Nealon, will be rubbing shoulders with top poker names. Mekhi Phifer, Kevin Pollak, Krysten Ritter, and Bradley Whitford are also on the guest list, with more celebrities expected to join.
Annette Bening, Chair of the Board for the Entertainment Community Fund, expressed gratitude for such initiatives. “Together, we’re dealing a winning hand to those who have illuminated our screens and stages for centuries,” she commented.
The Entertainment Community Fund’s commitment is evident in its numbers. As of October 19, the organization collected over $9.9 million, aiding more than 4,600 TV and film personnel. Furthermore, since May 2, generous donors have contributed over $18.7 million.
