Illinois’s gaming ecosystem has never been livelier. Boasting 15 casinos and 10 sportsbooks, the state observed over $1.4 billion in tax revenue contributions from casino gambling, video games, and sports wagering just last year. Within this backdrop, Hard Rock Casino in Rockford is making its move to amplify the betting scene even further.
Beth Kaufman, IGB Director of Communications, highlights the partnership’s ethos. “The IGB is working cooperatively with Hard Rock Casino Rockford and Seminole Hard Rock Digital to move through the regulatory process,” she expressed.
The sportsbook’s imminent launch aims to redefine leisure for the locals. Situated right next to the Rock River Bar & Grill, it’s set to become a hub of activity. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to a digitized betting menu, counters for direct interactions, cutting-edge automated kiosks, and an array of televisions streaming the latest games.
However, the journey to this expansion hasn’t been devoid of challenges. Delays are largely attributed to the intricate internal control procedures that the sportsbook needs to adhere to. While the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) authorized the venture, regulatory approvals, certifications, and the completion of testing requirements are still underway.
Geno Iafrate, the president of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, remains optimistic despite the setbacks. “We are working through the final steps with the IGB and are hopeful to be open before the end of the year,” he remarked, echoing sentiments shared by the Rockford Register Star.
In addition to Hard Rock’s ventures, the IGB has been occupied with introducing three new casinos and contemplating approvals for several other sportsbooks across the state.
Backing Hard Rock Casino’s aspiration are 815 Entertainment LLC., overseeing the casino’s operations, and Seminole Hard Rock Digital LLC. The latter is poised to spearhead online sports wagering in Illinois, adding another dimension to the state’s thriving betting domain.
