Tim Adams just did it again! The Canadian poker pro bagged his second Main Event win in the Triton Super High Roller Series, joining an elite club of double winners. In a nail-biting heads up in London, he stopped Jean Noel Thorel, the French hotshot, right in his tracks.
The 37-year-old Adams took down the $125K buy-in Main Event, pocketing the $4.185 million first prize. This isn’t his first major win on the Triton Series, though. Four years back, he grabbed a win in Jeju, South Korea, adding $3.5 million to his winnings. And just last week, he cashed in $1.5 million at a $200K event. But this recent win had some sweet extras: a swanky Jacob & Co watch and a two-night getaway on the Bombay Superyacht.
Reacting to his win, a stoked Adams said, “Can’t believe I pulled this off again!” He gave a shout-out to his final opponent, adding, “Big props to Jean Noel. Dude’s a beast on the table.”
Eight on the River
It looked like Adams was about to be the next notch on Thorel’s belt when both went into the pre-flop with almost equal stacks. Adams had pocket eights, while Thorel had nines. Given Thorel’s track record of knocking out top players like Adams in the final rounds, things looked grim. But luck was on Adams’ side when an eight showed up on the river.
Talking about that turn of events, Adams remarked, “It felt like a sudden cold snap. I was sure I was done. But man, seeing that eight on the river was unreal.”
